This is a window at the garrison at the Upper Canada Village. The troops would be able to close the window and open the rifle slits to fight off the Americans during the War of 1812.
The window is open at the moment - or undone to satisfy the August alphabet word!

Thanks for your faithful comments even though I am too busy at the moment to comment back. I appreciate opening 365 and seeing notifications waiting for me!
Yes - it was the one and only war between us (although there were continuous fighting over land before we each became nations).
The Canadians (or should I say - British since we did not become a sovereign nation until 1867) were able to push the Americans back all the way to Washington and burn the White House.
Those north of the border claim victory in that war though the Americans dispute that. LOL!
But - we are now good neighbours with only trade wars.
Does that mean as a New Yorker I should really be part of Canada & a Canadian citizen? I wouldn't mind making that claim!!!
Also, really like how the lighting is the star of this shot!

i find that Canadians are far more aware of the War of 1812 than Americans - probably because it is our claim to fame! LOL!
