Watching the Sunrise by fbailey

Watching the Sunrise

The Little Mermaid on Sunny Sands beach, Folkestone.

One for the Flash of Red 2018 theme, 28 days of black and white photography, with a flash of red on Valentine's Day.

A beautiful evocative image :)

I never knew there was one like this here. Is it connected to the one in Copenhagen? As Sally says an evocative image. @hermann

Nice composition. She looks freezing but thoughtful. I have never seen this statue. Must check it out sometime.
February 17th, 2018
Composition is great, but where is she looking at 🙄
February 17th, 2018
@Cherrill I don't think she's connected. she was one of the artworks for a previous Folkestone Triennial and the sculptor used one of the local ladies as the model. She's made of bronze and has a beautiful coat of verdigris. @gijsje

@ivan I must say I've never seen her from the front! On 18 January I posted one of her sideways on whuch will give you some idea. She's positioned on a layer of rocks and I guess by the time I get down to the beach the lure of the sea distracts me! Must try to get one of her, thanks for the idea:)

@tstb13 It's not too clear from this picture but She's gazing out to sea beyond the harbour arm. Looking east where the sun has just come up!
February 17th, 2018
@fbailey She looks likely to lure some male...bit like the Lorelei statue!
February 17th, 2018
@fbailey Just looked at 18/1 image...nice detail. :) Don't get wet, trying to get full frontal. :)
