Crumbling Away by fbailey

Crumbling Away

The remains of an old barn on the outskirts of Dover. The farm was up for sale a few months ago but no-one seems to have taken it over. The barn is getting more dilapidated as the weeks pass.

For the Flash of Red 2018 theme (a month of black and white pictures) with the emphasis on light. Today was bitterly cold, it was trying hard to snow, and this has been processed in Silver Efex to try to bring out the threatening clouds.

Also for the Forsaken theme.
Definitely Forsaken . Well done

Loads of textures here, sad demise for the barn!
February 26th, 2018
Why is it that sad looking buildings make such great subjects for b&w? This is excellent and definitely my kind of image. A big fav :)

Wonderful bw

We have both featured sad and neglected today...role on spring. Good in black and white.
February 26th, 2018
This is perfect for the Forsaken theme. Makes me sad to look at it - lots of history here. Stories to be told.

February 26th, 2018
Iā€™m not surprised no one has bought it - looks beyond repair. Perfect for the forsaken theme
February 26th, 2018
Sad to see pieces of property deteriorate like this. B&W was a great choice for this.
February 26th, 2018
Always something engaging about a decaying building nice shot :)
February 26th, 2018
Such a shame not to have sold, lovely capture šŸ˜Š
February 26th, 2018
A few nuts and bolts and it will be as right as rain! Fabulous processing, wonderful shot
February 27th, 2018
Forsaken, indeed! Excellent B&W image and wonderful processing!
February 27th, 2018
Nice B&W, I really like the processing!
I was thinking about ligh painting for the challenge, to play a bit with color after your flash of red challenge. But I saw you played a bit with light trail in the past.
Iā€™m proposing taking a street photo with at least one person. If you want a bit more challenge, you can talk to a stranger and take a picture of him.
February 27th, 2018
@floranhachez OK, Thanks, street photography it is! I'll see if I can find a friendly looking stranger to talk to as well:)
February 27th, 2018
@fbailey great, enjoy!
February 27th, 2018
Sad to see those old barns disappear.

February 27th, 2018
Great capture of the decay, and a poignant shot of days gone by.
February 27th, 2018
Wow, great shot. A fav.
February 27th, 2018
Your b&w treatment emphasises the elements of decay very well. How sad to see it all rotting away.
February 27th, 2018
This is a magnificent mono and so poignant !
February 27th, 2018
So camera friendly! Lovely sharp crisp rendition!
February 27th, 2018
I wonder what the whispers of stories are that those ruins could tell? Lovely dramatic photo of the loss.
February 27th, 2018
Great capture and processing of this poor dilapidated building.
February 27th, 2018
Yes, this definitely qualifies as "forsaken"!
February 27th, 2018
Wonderful textures and great for the challenge!

February 27th, 2018
@pyrrhula I thought they might have belonged to you!
February 27th, 2018
Great shot, I think the B&W works well, it takes away any confusing detail in the mangled building.
February 27th, 2018
What is it that makes decay such a good subject for photography? Certainly captured it here!
February 27th, 2018
This looks wonderful in b&w. I love the twisted metal.
