Don't know who was more surprised to see him in the front garden... me (miraculously with camera to hand), him (with his mix of scruffy and gorgeous feathers) or Coco the cat who quickly recovered and gave chase!!
Wow that is a great thing to see in your garden. So lucky you had your camera with you. I'll bet he was gone in a flash. He's so colorful. I've never seen one like that before.
@christiehicks Yes he scarpered over the fence about 30 seconds after I spotted him, with the rattly cackling call they have - not in keeping with their elegant looks and he could barely fly! We live in a cul-de-sac in a village surrounded by countryside so rarely see these so close - though I'm often swerving them as they stupidly run across the road in front of the car going into town.. this one lived to see another day, anyway!
