Christmas Shoeboxes! by filsie65

Christmas Shoeboxes!

Every year recently we have helped to fill and collect shoeboxes for 'Operation Christmas Child' - we fill a shoebox with little gifts and essentials to be sent off to children in poorer countries who would otherwise have nothing. The kids all get involved as does the school, and we also have a village mass-pack, which is what you see here - it was a wall of happy colours!
With a few adult helpers and a group of wonderful kids we spent all afternoon and managed to wrap, pack and deliver 189 shoeboxes to the church for blessing tomorrow and sending off thereafter. We all left tired but smiling!
I love the photo and the project. I take an "angel" from the Salvation Army tree at my Post Office and fill the child's wishes. It's amazing how little some of them want.

@sabanford What a lovely idea - I hadn't heard of that one before. Perhaps I shan't mention it to my children.... :)

It's a great idea. Our children used to do a similar thing at junior school, but that was a few years ago!

We do Operation Chistmas Child through my work. There are always so many charities but I enjoy this one. The thought of brightening a childs life is such a great feeling. Looks like a job well done :)

What a wonderful thing to do! We do that too, and I love how the gift is 100% benefitted by the child
