My Nanny loved gardening - today would have been her 108th birthday and I was thinking of her as I went out into my blowy sunny garden in search of snowdrops or hellebores... no luck with either but I know she would have loved this woody shrub with little clusters of tiny creamy-pink flowers. I think it is a viburnum. There were green shoots popping up so with any luck there will be more colour in February.
She also loved tea and cake so I shall make sure I remember that later! :)
# However am I going to put a frame around any pictures when picnik has gone?!
Thank you so much to all the lovely people who view my photos / find something nice to say - I always enjoy reading your comments and appreciate your time and camaraderie! :)
Beautiful! what a lovely tribute to your Nanny. Now go and follow up on that other tribute for her :-)
I feel also quite bereft at the thought of picnik disappearing!! My iPhone has an app that does some nice effects and some frames, but what a faff that would be to upload the picture to my iPhone for processing...
Lovely shot. I love the green and the warm light. It looks very much like spring. We on the other hand had our first proper night (and morning) of frost this winter.
@redwax66 Haha my mum would have liked that! No, it's what we called our Grandmother. She was lovely but could be very stubborn about wanting things her way..., she lived to be 94 and stayed alert and smart all the way :)
@peterdegraaff Hi Peter! No, I answer to lots of different names but Northy isn't one of them... In time I will forgive you for wanting to put the apple on my head for my son to shoot at !! :)
Scented viburnums are one of the joys of winter (along with witch hazel and wintersweet) and this is a lovely image of those delicate pink and white blooms. I wish photos could convey the scent though ...

You had a Nanny? Like a Mary Poppins nanny? Was she Practically Perfect in Every Way??
