Low-key Lilac

... is it? I'm really not sure. I had thought that lilac would look lovely by candlelight, and when I saw the theme this week thought I'd give it a go. (Especially as I've been doing flowers all week). Not sure. What do you think?

I like the light! I think what is distracting me a bit is the brown tones coming through in the flowers. I wonder what it would look like as a B&W?

How did you light the subject? I love the dark background which helps to pop out he white flowers.

I think it works for low-light, low-key. It's not as stark as a black and white and I like the soft lighting.

Soft light from the candles adds an old-world charm to the flowers. Dark backdrop also lifts them.

@bmnorthernlight Hi B! I agree with you, I tried B&W and also sepia but it made the shot very flat.... so I desaturated it quite a lot until the green leaf was almost black and the brown merged into the background. I liked the touch of colour it gave it but wished I had cut a pure white piece to play with. (This bit kept hitting the car & vice-versa which is why it got the chop!)
