Yep, decided to go for the easy option... then made it hard for myself. This is George's bmx bike wheel, in the dark, with a torch shining on it, (balanced on top of the camera), a low ISO and a long exposure. Tried it with the camera flash and every time got a perfectly sharp shot of a wheel, it might as well have been standing still! The inner circle is the reflector spinning around.

Very cool idea! I like how it came out! Yeah, flashes automatically stop anything in motion. I tried doing a ceiling fan in year one and learned that you can't have the flash on. It's there somewhere.
Interesting effect you achieved here. That happens with my flash too- it freezes the motion. But I think it's supposed to do that! I was so tempted to choose circles, but opted for the illusive diamond pattern just to make life difficult.
