This isn't the shot I was going to post today.. the one of George blowing out his birthday candles didn't work to his approval and so I looked back on the morning when I shot the sun rising over the hill, with my 17-year-old sitting beside me, and remembering the deep feeling of contentment.
I'm grateful for the privilege of having two great kids, seeing at least one to almost adulthood, and all the smiles and frowns that go with it. Life hasn't turned out how I planned it, but I'm grateful for all I am lucky enough to have.
That includes you, all my dear 365 friends, for all we exchange every day. As they say, when I count my blessings, I count some twice!
Thank you, too, for your sweet comments on my two rascal bears on my pillow yesterday.. I felt a little grizzly at the paw unexpecTed jokes, most of which were only just bearable.. but of course I'm always grateful when folk call by!
Thoroughly enjoyed the planning for Jan - huge thanks to everyone who joined in and of course to dear Graham aka Bulldog for setting up the whole challenge. Enjoy fabulous February whatever you get up to!
The tree silhouette also counts its blessings as the sun disappears.....and as I do for you ,Phil...You have made me smile and laugh when I have had some real down days! Thanks for being you with your funny English humour! LOL
A lovely sunrise for the birthday boy.....funny how life turns out!! the bits that go horribly wrong make us appreciate the bits that go right even more!
Lovely shot Phil, and yes life rarely works out like we plans, but that's got value in its own right, right? I just love listening to Nina Simone singing Feeling good.
Beautiful light! Happy belated birthday to George and congrats to you for raising such great teenagers who have stacks of (pyromaniac) ideas for your shots :-) x
Glorious shot Phil, and you are so right about the twists and turns of life. It is one heck of an achievement to bring up kids well in the world we live in. I think it was so much easier 1 or 2 generations ago.
I appreciate your thanks but the words are chosen by our friends here on 365. I can not take the credit for that.
And don't forget the feb1013 challenge starts tomorrow.
:)
Oh and much less than 100 miles, I live in Sharnbrook :-)
