Big Bronze Bug by filsie65

Big Bronze Bug

Late one dark night I was packing up and saw the guinea-pig-holding-towel was still outside... I went to get it and found this huge bug sitting on the side of it... Naturally I did what any self-respecting 365er would do.. I carefully brought it inside and grabbed my camera. Terrified it would fall off and I'd be playing hunt the bug all night (or it would eat one of the cats) I was very careful then gingerly put it back outside.. would it let go?! Ended up prising it off with a twig and think it flew off with a buzz then thwacked into the door but it was too dark to tell. I just squealed like a girl then skedaddled inside with the cats and shut the door...
What was it? Perhaps my 365er friends will know. This isn't a close-up macro..!
Delighted you stopped by to enjoy the warm evening dandelions with me yesterday... thank you all for calling by :) Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cool shot! I'm glad he behaved for you then went back outside! When you need a bug identified, @robv is the person to call!

Haha! The response to everything now is "where's my camera?!" The only difference is that I would not have brought it in!

Great shot, but no clue as to what it is... it looks like it might belong to the beetle family.

Tenaceous little bugger, eh? You made him look scary and huge.

I don't like the sound of that thwack into the door and the flying off part didn't do my nerves any good either - Yes I'd have gone for the camera - and a torch, flashlight, strobes, turned the car headlights on, and hired a flood light but I wouldn't have picked up the towel or carried that prehistoric monster inside - You could have strained your back Phil! - Great shot of the terrifying wee beastie!

@bobfoto You are so clever. I was about to fine you for swearing but gave you the benefit of the doubt and I think you are right. You get a class point and a smiley superstar sticker. :)

What a shot! And what a story! That is one big creepy looking bug! It looks like our june bugs that we have here. They cling to anything and they are massive. I had one stuck to my big toe once and it wouldn't let go. I have no idea how it got under my covers but I've been terrified of them since (I was a teenager then)! ... Great discovery and you are very very brave to have brought it inside!!! I think your cats would have been fine. They probably would have eaten it instead! Great job, Phil! :)

Oh Phil! This story about taking a pic of a bug I can so relate to. I rarely scream like a girl, but once a grasshopper flew at my head and I did! I have to fav this to see it and read your funny story again!
