Silky

My get-pushed challenge from @taffy was to do a black-and-white shot that captured texture. Well I tried a crumbling wall but wasn't happy and thought of this... I did something like it before but with processing - this was setting my camera at B&W, which I'd never done before, and is cropped square but otherwise sooc. I'll go back to the wall in good light... if it's still upright! :)
Huge thanks for your charmingly lovely comments, it was a really sh!tty Friday (car failed MOT, had to hire a car for the weekend's list...) but finding your comments and spending an hour here made my day so much better. Plan to do the same over the weekend :) Have a fabulous weekend folks mwah mwah
Certainly looks like what the title suggests. Very creative and excellently captured.

Lovely textures, reflections and love the b&w choice. Always afraid of b&w myself but love how it works for others. Enjoy your weekend and hope next week unfolds smoothly.

Great job on your challenge... at first, I thought it was a broken glass.

@taffy Oops forgot to tag you :) On the lookout for more textures today, and kind of pleased that I found out how to take Black-and-white in-camera.

Ooh, I wouldn't have done this one in black and white, not because it doesn't work, its a lovely shot, but just because you missed an opportunity, this one works really well in colour when you can get the disc reflecting lots of rainbow colours!

Beautifully done Phil.

fav this!

I like this in B&W. It gives more texture to the droplets

Very nice shot--quite creative!

That sucks, I hope it won't be to expensive to fix it. I think it's cool that you did this in b&w instead of colour. It emphasis the texture rather than the diffraction pattern.

@primitiveprobe £547 plus hire car plus tank of petrol :( Bread and Jam for the rest of the month....! (Only joking... about the jam....!!) ;)
January 20th, 2014
@filsie65 Oh my, that's a lot of camera equipment... Or food if that's what you prefer ;-)
January 20th, 2014
@primitiveprobe *wail* I hadn't thought of what I could have spent it on if it was spare... sorry kids, no jam, mum needs more lenses....! ;)

Ouch, that's a lot of money. Would buy 2 lenses for mey new X1-Pro! You did a lovely job here Phil, the grey tones are so good,

Phil, my push challenge for you this week is to shoot a panned shot. Stationary background with a subject in motion.

This is a cool shot. Thoroughly modern.

Silky is the perfect title - and this is a wonderful retake on the usual c.d. shots - The fluid has a mercurial silver tone that is so entrancing.
