Henley-on-Thames Riverside by fishers

Henley-on-Thames Riverside

Lucy posted a shot yesterday of the modern riverside along the banks of the River Seine in Paris, so today by contrast, a shot from me of the rather older riverside along the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames.

This was another of the places that I visited while staying with Louise, and it was a fascinating place to explore, with a range of old interesting buildings and lovely riverside walks.

Henley-on-Thames is also popular with TV companies. An episode of Inspector Morse was filmed at a brewery here (visible above the bridge), and several episodes from Midsomer Murders use the town - there is even a Midsomer Murders town trail to follow to see places featured in the series.

I had a lovely walk south of the town to a nearby picturesque lock, and then I walked north for several miles to Hambledon Lock, another attractive location used by TV companies.

It was a really nice day and I left with fond memories of a lovely place.

I don't think I've seen this view before and I'm delighted to see that there is very little that would identify it as a modern photograph - a lovely, timeless view.

Thank you Bob, but this is actually in southern England, taken when I was visiting Louise. I've yet to make my visit to France to see Lucy, but no doubt there will be lots of photos taken there!

@vignouse

Thank you Richard - the popular shot of the bridge and church is taken across the river, rather than along it as I've done here.
