Hedgehog

Taken last week, this shot shows the hedgehog that startled me and left me battered and bruised!

It was after dark and I was stepping through the back door of our house to put the recycling bins out for the following morning collection. As I was stepping out I spotted a dark shape on the path, so a quick twist to change direction to avoid it resulted in me banging my leg against a recycling box resulting in a bruise and swelling, while at the same time the twist left me with a sore lower back, and I ended up muttering darkly!

The dark shadow was this chap, so like a good 365er I dashed back into the house for my camera to take a few shots, which was a challenge because it was really dark, and the outside light is waiting for me to fit a new bulb. Eventually I got this shot, which I was quite pleased with.

The recycling bins eventually got put at the end of the drive and I went back inside to nurse my sore leg!

The story talks of a true 365er! Love this little one.

Hope the leg and back feels better. Like this shot, haven't seen a hedgehog this year, we used to have a few around here, but sadly not this year. Great close up.

Poor little fellow must've got as bigger fright as you - then to top it off, he had to pose for a portrait shot! Hope your leg and back are ok again - got a new bulb in the outside light yet?

@lhart

Thank you Lynne - the bruise is going and the back is OK. It's ages since we saw a hedgehog in our garden, and I think that's why I was so surprised as I stepped out!

Aw, just a baby and he looks like he's been doing a bit of bin foraging. Almost worth the bang on the knee to get this Ian ;-)
