Leeds Crosses

Lucy and met up in Leeds and found these lovely crosses on our tour round the city.

The stone one on the right was in Leeds Minster.
It is The Leeds Cross which dates from the 10th century and is of a style known as Anglo-Scandinavian. The crosses more recent history makes for interesting reading and can be found at:

The fabric cross was in the Leeds City Museum and has features and panels in common with the stone cross.

It led us to reflect that although we tend to think of the stone crosses as being grey they would have been as highly coloured as the fabric one when first displayed.
