The final shot for now from Rowntree Park, York, and it's something of a mystery to me - and internet searches haven't yet revealed any information about this totem pole. It's certainly been in the park for at least 8 years, since my first shot of it was taken in 2008.
The leaf figure at the top looks like a 'Green Man', with leaves coming out of it's mouth. The bird face in the middle looks rather startled, and the poor chap at the bottom looks rather miserable carrying the weight of the other figures!
(A Green Man is a sculpture, or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the nose, mouth, nostrils or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament. - Wikipedia)
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are appreciated.
I find the mystery of this totem a little frustrating, so I will be continuing my investigations to find out more about it!
