Still in West Yorkshire, but now in the city of Wakefield, to the south of Leeds, Katharine and I visited the newly renovated cathedral, and the Hepworth Gallery.
As we walked along Kirkgate, past the cathedral, I spotted several photographers with very expensive camera's and big lenses looking up at the cathedral, and following their lead I spotted this Peregrine Falcon on one of the pinacles, so despite the limitations of my bridge camera, I just had to have a go at getting a few shots.
Apparently there are two of these birds with a nest high up on the cathedral, and I was really pleased to see this one as we passed.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are appreciated.
For me, seeing this peregrine falcon was one of the highlights of our day in Wakefield, and was a sighting one wouldn't normally expect in a city centre.
So pleased you saw this beauty. They have a Twitter site (of course!) and last year a new breeding platform was built for them. There are already signs of activity...
Mr & Mrs M haven't managed to breed yet but they also have a Twitter site and hundreds of watchers. It's worth a visit to the Minster & Dean's Garden, you might get lucky

Finding this was really easy - two people with cameras and huge lenses pointing at the cathedral was a big clue! I was pleased with this result with my much more basic camera. I really need to spend some time around the Minster with my binoculars.
