In recent years there has been a massive increase in the provision of cycle routes in and around York. Several routes segregated from traffic but shared with pedestrians have been developed, and this is one close to where we live.
It runs from York city centre out towards Benningborough Hall. This section runs past the Rawcliffe Bar Country Park, and it is a well used route.
Again, the leading lines are like magnets, drawing me into the scene. Lovely to see sunshine... 'tis just a memory or pleasant figment of the imagination.
Most of my walk is along a shared track. I'm constantly alert to cyclist coming up behind me without warning. Almost knocked over when I stepped to the side to take a photo. Lovely view of your track.
This would surely encourage people to exercise whether on a bike or on foot. In Malta, there are very few places where you can go on a bike if not on the road.
Thank you all for your comments and fav, they are appreciated.
It is good to see facilities like this being developed, although on busy routes like this, the mix of cyclists and walkers doesn't work particularly well. There is now a link south of York on a disused railway which connects to the trans-Pennine trail, so there is lots of scope for long distance cycling.
