Bootham Park Hospital Chapel by fishers

Bootham Park Hospital Chapel

Close to the former hospital building is the hospital chapel. It was built in 1865 and designed by Rawlins Gould. Its architecture is a revival of the medieval Gothic style known as 'Early English’, which was widespread in the 13th century.

In 1989 the former chapel was converted into offices, and more recently the psychology department has been based in there.

Thank you all for your comments and favs, which put this shot on the Popular Page.

The future of this building is more secure than that of the hospital itself, since the health service has found a new use for it. It is Grade 2 listed.

that's an attractive building - and good news that it has been put to good use

@shannejw I agree - the more that old buildings can be reused, the better as far as I'm concerned. There is another former hospital chapel quite near where we live that is now an operating theatre for hip and knee surgery.
