There is a very active yarnbombing group in Thirsk, which began several years ago with a massive poppy waterfall from the church. Each year since there has been a poppy display of some sort for Remembrance, and this year as it's centrepiece they have decorated the clocktower in the Market Place.
An ancient market cross once stood where the clock tower is until, somewhat broken, it was replaced in 1896 by the clock tower. It was built to commemorate the marriage of the Duke of York, later King George V, to Princess May of Teck, the future Queen Mary, the present Queen Elizabeth II's grandparents.
Katharine remains in hospital, and had quite a bit of pain today. The hospital are struggling a bit with her pain management.
Beautiful. We are very fond of Thirsk and know that market square well.
I am so very sorry to hear that the pain management is not quite there yet for Katharine. I have often found things pick up again on a Monday in hospital when all the consultants are back in on duty. Keeping her in my prayers.
Thank you all for your generous comments and favs, which put this shot on the Popular Page.
On the hospital front, Katharine is somewhat better today, and now has a pain management plan in place. She was discharged from hospital this evening and is now back at home. Thank you all for your care and concern during her hospital stay.
@gamelee Thank you Lee. The yarnbombers have now created a Christmas tree which is in front of Thirsk Hall, so I need another trip there before Christmas.
