Four shots from those posted in 2020 which say something about our year.
Top left - and a day out for me at Locomotion, Shildon. Katharine was beginning to recover from her long period of illness and by this time felt confident to be left on her own for a few hours. Posted on 3rd March.
Top Right - the almost deserted Shambles in York during the first lockdown, and a strange and unnerving walk around the city centre. This was when people took notice of the Covid-19 restrictions rather than trying to avoid them. Posted on 5th May
Bottom Left - the only occasion in 2020 when I stayed away from York overnight was at the beginning of September when I was looking after two of my grandchildren for a few days in South Lincolnshire while their parents were at work. This shot was taken in Bourne Woods while we watched nature and talked about almost everything! Posted on 3rd September.
Bottom Right - Sunset and silhouette. At this time I was rather fed up and frustrated by the restrictions of life, and the way that so many people were ignoring the restrictions and prolonging the pandemic - but there was still beauty to see in the world around us. Posted on 3rd December.
Now - as we move from 2020 to 2021, Covid-19 cases have soared in the UK, restrictions have been tightened, but two vaccines have been authorised for use, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we enter 2021 with a mix of fear and hope, and look forward to better times ahead!
Lovely reading your narrative of the year. Brits don't like being told what to do, do they? Same around here. Happy new year to you both. Here's to better things, eh? Could be a while coming, but it should come.
Beautiful collage. The Shambles picture takes top place for me. We all go through ups and downs, for you the best must have been the complete recovery of Katherine. Thank you for all the stories you have shared with us. Stay safe, better times are very close.
Thank you for all your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I always spend time around Christmas looking back over the year and planning for the future. The looking back made 2020 look less negative - there were high spots as well. It was particularly pleasing that Katharine has made such a good recovery from her illness. Planning for 2021 is a bit harder since we don't know what will happen with Covid-19. Best I can come up with is a series of aspirations and hopes - people to see and places to visit, but without even a vague timetable.

Thank you Vesna. Here in York the Covid-19 is now worse than it has been at any time and we are back in lockdown.
