This shot was taken just south of the old railway bridge in yesterdays shot, and is looking north. As you can see, there are quite a lot of trees and shrubs beside the path - and in case you are wondering, the river is off to the left of this shot.
There is a walk called the Foss Walk, a 28 miles trail follows footpaths along or near the river Foss, starting from its confluence with the River Ouse in York and finishing at its source, Pond Head four miles from Easingwold. The route, which is sign posted and has a frog logo, is via Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, Crayke and Oulston.
I did the walk in reverse from Pond Head to York back in the early 1990s, and it took me through a lot of places that were new to me. It is mainly a pleasant rural route, mostly through farmland, and past a number of interesting historical features.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
This walk is quite close to the Nestle factory where I worked, and in the days before flexible working hours I would often spend part of my lunch hour walking beside the River Foss or on the cycleway. This walk was like revisiting an old friend!
The short walk that I did on Tueday was about 1.5 miles and took around 45 mins. The full Foss Walk that I did back in the early 1990s took me around 10 hours. I'm not sure I could manage that now I'm rather older!
