Chainsaw carving seems to be increasingly popular, with an ever increasing range of designs. Often, a tree that is due to be cut down is instead converted into a carving.
The earliest that I recall seeing, about 30 years ago, was an interpretation of Jacob's Ladder at Wyedale Hall on the southern edge of the North York Moors, using the trunk of a dead tree close to the hall.
One of the more popular designs here in Yorkshire is that of an owl, and there are quite a few examples, although this one is the only one I've seen with wings raised. This example was spotted in a garden close to the village green in Escrick.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and fav, they are very much appreciated.
Our exploration of Escrick revealed much of interest - I suspect it won't be too long before we make a return visit.

Thank you Vesna. I rather liked the ivy leaves climbing over it.
