The village of Wigginton is just north of the city of York. The original village has been swallowed up by large housing estates, and it is to one of these estates that Katharine and I recently paid a visit, after dark, to see a short street where around half of the houses have decorations outside, to encourage donations to local charities.
It was a bitterly cold evening, but we were fortunate that there is an occasional bus that takes us almost directly to the right part of Wigginton. Part of the magic of seeing these lights is to watch the reaction of some very young children who were totally absorbed in the colourful displays.
So a worthwhile trip out, despite the bitterly cold weather. The real name for Twinklepike Way is Twin Pike Way, so if you are in the area, do have a look at the colourful efforts of the residents.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I'm rather surprised that there are so many outdoor light displays, with the massive increase in electricity prices this year, but people seem determined to have a good Christmas, the first for several years without Covid-19 restrictions.
