St Sampson's Square in York is playing host to a temporary light-art display. It was finally warm enough for me to have a trip into the city centre after dark to get a few shots of the display, so here it is.
This is the description from the information board beside the light-art:
"Celebrating the joy of coming together after recent periods of social isolation. ‘Reunion’ by Kumquat Lab is a unique light installation creating a series of technicolour light arches forming a circular space where you are invited to meet and join with other spectators.
Visitors are encouraged to interact with the space and bring the installation to life, as they share the light at the end of the tunnel.
This installation is brought to you by the York Business Improvement District.
Kumquat Labs was founded by brothers Tom and Sébastien, whose passion for architecture has inspired them to develop innovative and ephemeral artworks for public spaces."
I quite like this piece of artwork - it's a bit different to other recent artwork features in the city centre.
This is on display until 6th February. There is also an ice sculpture trail around the city centre on 4th and 5th February. The next light show based on projections onto the Minster begins on 10th February until 23rd February, 6pm to 9pm each evening. I hope there is something that coincides with your visit!
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
There is to be a further piece of light art in York next month, whem light patterns will be projected onto the south transept of York Minster, so I'm looking forward to that.
