Taken on the way back towards York city centre, from Rowntree Park, this attractive barge caught my eye. It is a large houseboat converted from a Dutch barge, and is named 'Morgenster' (or in English 'Morning Star'). It is moored beside Terry Avenue.
I don't know exactly how long it has been moored here, but it was first recorded on Google Streetview in July 2018, but wasn't there in May 2017.
I do remember back in the 1970s / 1980s another boat was moored here and used as a bistro / nightclub for quite a few years. I believe it eventually sank.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Although living here on the River Ouse might look quite idyllic, I think it would be much less so when there has been heavy rain, the river has risen and neighbouring roads are flooded and you are stranded on the barge.
