This shot shows the second variety of calendula planted in a border beside the main path into Rowntree Park from the banks of the River Ouse. This variety has a much lighter centre than the one in yesterday's shot.
There are between 15 and 20 varieties of calendula. Some have traditionally been used in herbal medicine.
Calendula officinalis oil is still used medicinally as an anti-inflammatory and a remedy for healing wounds. Calendula ointments are skin products available for use on minor cuts, burns, and skin irritation, although evidence for their effectiveness is weak.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
We were very fortunate with our day at Rowntree Park, the weather was lovely and there were some nice flowers to take photos of as well.

Funnily enough I've had quite a bad outbreak of eczema on my arms, and calendula oil does help to sooth it.
