Today Miss F. told me she was going to take me to the jungle! Although I had some worrisome images of anacondas bigger than she is, imagine my disappointment when we ended up in the vegetable garden. As far as I can tell, a garden is a sort of demanding market. You place your orders well ahead of time and then are dismayed at how exuberantly the orders are filled … all at once, right when you’re busy or sick or something. Now that I think about it, I take it back. That place was a jungle! Every plant is busy colonizing, reproducing, growing to enormous proportions. Tomatoes hang over green beans, sweet potatoes escape in every direction, zucchinis take over the world, watermelons announce they are the big players, and the cucumbers climb over everything. They all take great pains to hide their fruits until they are so big and plentiful that a mortal can barely carry them back to the house. I think Miss F. actually sort of likes the wild overgrowth. She took me to her favorite section, the red beets you can see in the picture. Apparently this section is more of a pantry than a market, since the beets wait patiently until Miss F. is ready to fetch a handful for dinner. No anacondas, but that is an earthworm crawling right under my belly. (And I’m not crying, that’s just mud under my eye.)
p.s. Yesterday’s pudding was apparently entirely “metaphorical,” definitely a disappointment for the literal minded pudding-lovers among us.
You are quite photogenic, Mr. Pig and find yourself in very picturesque places!
You also lead an exciting life, Mr. Pig. And, I keep telling you that Miss F. would never let anything happen to you so you needn't worry about anacondas and such.
So nice to see you had this lovely adventure -- great of Miss F to take you along! And to meet an earthworm so closely...I hope you had a great conversation.
