Daddy Longleg and Ant

Some interesting facts . . . other names for Daddy Longlegs include Harvestmen and Shepherd Spiders. They are cousins of other Arachnids, but an Order all to their own. They're not venomous and can be found on every continent but Antarctica. They can look very different depending on where they live.
Oh, my. That is scary looking. I've never seen a daddy longlegs that looks like that, so I'm guessing you don't live near me!

That comparison is great - those legs are really so long. I remember when I saw my first one - scared me big time! Now you just say - oh, it's a daddy longlegs! Such terrific details.

This is fascinating. Who would have thought that there is all that going on in the tiny little body we see. I must look more carefully next time and see if ours are indeed completely different. When I first saw the photo, I actually thought it was some piece of jewellery on a string!
