I've tried to make my own bokeh shape filter for my camera lens and it was a disaster so I bought a bokeh kit that has a selection of small discs with different shapes cut out. The discs slip into a lens cover that is included in the set. Today I had fun experimenting with the heart shape. :-)
This looks like a great success. I'm not sure I understand how they work. How do you end up with anything else in the picture if most of the lens is covered up?
@merrelyn Hi, Merrelyn! Thanks so much for commenting! The name of the kit is ‘DIYP Bokeh Masters Kit’ ... here’s a link to the set I bought online from B&H Photo in New York...you can also get the set on Amazon. I bought the set that has 21 custom shaped discs and 8 blank discs to cut your own patterns from but there’s a larger set available with 72 discs. It’s incredibly easy to use and I’m very happy with the results from the heart shape disc. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/745168-REG/Bokeh_MASTERS_EDITION_Bokeh_Masters_Kit.html
@fntngrma Thank you so much for your comment and fav, Rosan! I am very happy with this kit...today I played around with a couple of the other shapes and they worked just as well as the heart shape. It's so easy with these discs to get a nice bokeh shape which I definitely appreciate after I tried several times to make my own and ended up so frustrated with the terrible results. :-)
Looking forward to seeing the results of it.
