This afternoon I was at a local park taking photos of ducks, bees, and redbud trees. I looked around at 5:47pm and spotted this Northern Shoveler swimming by right in front of me.

that was good timing, and well remembered. I completely forgot to engage-which has made me cross. I love to see the shoveller's beak shape here - I don't think it ever occurred to me before how this duck got its name.
