Yesterday a friend and i spent a day over an hour away looking for and finding a flock of brolgas. Unfortunately they were far off in the distance so photos were difficult - but we loved watching them! On the way home we called into Lake Cartcarrong as the sun was setting below the clouds :)
How very special - brolgas are just so fascinating. These guys did co-operate with you though - marvellous image with them in front of those gorgeous colours.
@merrelyn Yes and no!! Yes they are found in the south/west but usually around lake areas about 2 hours north of here. Over the years I have found pairs in paddocks just over 1 hour north/east of here - and only when it's been a wet winter. To see over 80 in one spot (a dam in centre of paddock) was amazing. Another lady who had stopped to watch them told us there were around 200 in a north/east direction of there - hopefully my friend and I might try to go there soon!!! We are so dry and there isn't a lot of "waterholes" around.
