Greetings! I'm from Connecticut (USA) Photography is one of my lifelong passions (others including gardening, woodworking, history, and being a part...
@denisedaly Good morning Denise, and as always, thank you very much. This one was probably pretty comical if you saw me trying to photograph it because I knew what I wanted for the lighting, and I was circling round and round the little flower until I saw what pleased me. Be well, Les
I always wonder what other people think of us as we circle things, or lay on the ground or climb on things to get that perfect shot. Well you did it here Leslie. This is beautiful.
@maggie2 Ahhh, so you do that too, do you? :p) A good photograph is worth a little being stared at; I couldn't give a care! Actually, I rarely even think about it. Most of the time, I am super intense when I am photographing. It is very Zen; just me, a camera, and a subject. A flurry of details are whizzing through my creative mind: DOF, lighting, contrast, perspective, composition, shutter speed, focus, etc. and of course, the subject itself; what do I want to get from it? What can I leave OUT of the photograph? (That's why I have a camera where I can manually override everything LOL.) I just love it so!! I have to find a way to do it for a living. I'm done prattling on; thank you for the meaningful comment. Have a terrific weekend, Les
@deens Thanks so much, Nadine. And I agree, the greens are wonderful. What WOULD we do without the color green! (Do you know the "Muppets"? - the world's beloved puppets? Kermit The Frog used to sing a song that began, "It's not easy being green..." BIG LOL) Happy weekend, Les
@tolpol Thank you once again, Paul. My first time seeing this one too. They are a "specialty item" and are not found in garden nurseries, but must be ordered. This is in a friend's garden, the real "hoity-toity"
kind that is on garden tours, and they special ordered it. I'm curious to see what kind of seeds it might produce (you see, I might just go over and nick a few for my garden, heh, heh.) Be well, Les
@mwarren365 Hi there, Mike - So wonderful to hear from someome new! Thank you very much. I thought it looked more like a dandelion gone to seed than a thistle.... Be well, Les
lovely shot Les, and I am so glad that you walked around and made sure you had the best lighting. Sometimes getting right down on the ground or under something really makes a difference.
@kdrinkie Helloooo Kim - So nice to hear from you, and thanks, as always for stopping by with a nice compliment. Yep, sometimes we have get a little squirrely to get the right lighting. (Here's what I recently tried when there was too much light, and I couldn't work around it: I took a piece of paper out of the glove box and kind of rediredircted it, hard to describe. Worked pretty well though, but it will take awhile to perfect it. Now I carry white pieces of cardboard in my car. Be well,Les
