This dear boy is 28 years old and is one of several retired racehorses that Diane (the"owner" of the "Very Happy Farm Dog")
took in nearly 25 years ago. He has a marvelous disposition, a happy life, and very few teeth. :-)
Note:(Although this shot is SOOC, I did add a small black vignette along with the frame.)
Greetings! I'm from Connecticut (USA) Photography is one of my lifelong passions (others including gardening, woodworking, history, and being a part...
great shot, Les ... It remembers me of an old horse I rode several years ago. He was 20+ and a wonderful, reliable fellow who always had a lot of fun to gallop uphill in the woods.
@nicolecampbell Hi there Nicole - and thanks for paying Rocky and I a fine compliment.
(The thumb is coming along pretty well. It was a banner day earlier this week when I could use my thumb in holding the dishes to wash them! AND, I can turn the key in the ignition without yelping. lol I am able to use it it lightly without pain, so that's a big improvement. How kind of you to ask.) Happy weekend to you and yours, Les x
@mwarren365 Thanks a lot Mike. Remember, this fella is one BIG boy! To get this perspective, I had to find a feed bucket to stand on!! LOL Take care, Les
@purplewitch Much appreciated Cala. He is one special creature. I would give anything to know what he's seen, what he thinks of things, and what he FEELS about things. When I see him staring off into space, I wonder what's going on behind those dear eyes. Happy weekend to you and yours, Les
@cath Much appreciated Cath. Oh, you would love this gentle, sage, winsome old boy. He is not given to impulses or play, but instead offers a steady, affable, trusting presence. Such a dear.....
Be very well, Les
@ralfb Very much appreciated Ralf. I can't believe that were lucky enough to gallop horses in the woods. That would be a dream come true for me. You would love Rocky; he is so good natured and calm. I wonder, do you ever still ride? I hope to some day. Be well, Les
@glimpses I haven't been on horseback for quite a while now. Had two accidents and never had the guts to climb on a horse again. But still love them and enjoy being around them - as long as I don't have ride them. Maybe they find it better that way, to LOL
@ralfb Hello Ralf, and thank you for your reply. Shame that your accidents put you off Horses (literally! LOL) I am hoping that you were not seriouly hurt. I don't know much at all about Horses, but sure would like to learn. Hopefully, I will be able to continue visiting Rocky and the others. What I'd REALLY like is to help in the barn once or twice a week; just mucking out, feeding, maybe getting to groom the Horses. They would welcome the (free) help, and I would welcome the wonderful, enjoyable experience. Have a great week, Les
