Who Needs A Feeder When You Can Have The Whole Bag!!
This was priceless! I went to the birdseed section of a feed store to restock, and found that a large family of English Sparrows had made it their winter home. I thought it was delightful, but an employee quickly pointed out he didn't agree. "Not so cute when you take a bag of seed down and a heavy shower of dried bird sh_t settles in your hair!" "Or, just plain seed comes pouring down on your head." "AND, they open the damn bags themselves, and I swear that each bird has it's OWN bag!" Well, I was still delighted at the scene, and gently suggested he buy a baseball cap. :-)

@mwarren365 Thank you Mike; glad I had my camera! It was worth the 3 hrs I spent sitting on a cold cement floor tucked behind feed bags.
Hope your week is going well, Les
@mjmaven Thanks you Shirley; their skills at adaptation are part of the reason they flourished when the first 9 pair were brought here from England in about 1841. Take care, Les
@lbmcshutter Hi Megan - They could even afford to be choosey when it came to opening bags. :-) It was worth the 3 hrs I sat on a cold cement floor tucked into the feedbags to get this. People kept walking past, and then i'd have to wait another 20 minutes or more until they returned. Nate sort of glowered; he didn't appreciate my glib suggestion. But oh, how he brightened when I found him and showed him a few shots. :-) So all was well. Hope you are too, Les x
