Refusal of Beige by graemestevens

Refusal of Beige

I've been playing with the Lensbaby again, this time from the top of the parking building in town where it was chilly and more than a little windy. The large elephant on the building was painted as part of a Street Art Festival that was held in town about 6 months ago. This is one of the few remaining pieces of art left that our Council, in it's wisdom, has not yet painted a delightful shade of grey in it's efforts to prevent any of us thinking outside of the box or being individuals in any way, shape or form.
Great shot, Graeme. I love painted buildings.

That elephant is awesome and I'm glad you are enjoying your gift.
September 6th, 2014
Excellent pachyderm photo on this (Ph)riday... happy to see you enjoying the LB.
September 6th, 2014
Awesome shot. From what I've heard the lensbaby can take a bit of taming. The effect looks spot on in this shot.
September 6th, 2014
I am enjoying your enjoyment of your LB!
September 6th, 2014
ah ha I loved how when I saw this it was the elephant that drew my attention first and had me going what the? has Graeme done here - love it!
and please don't let them know you are an individual I would have for them to paint you grey
September 6th, 2014
Neat piece of art.
September 6th, 2014
@bigugly Thanks very much :) Street art is one of my favourite kinds of art.
@spikez Thanks very much - he/she is fairly funky.
@rosiekerr Phanks very much indeed :)
@karlow75 Thanks - so far so good although to honest I've had so many big fails...still, early days and not to be used for every shot!
@ukandie1 Thank you very much - I'm enjoying your enjoyment of my enjoyment ;)
@annied I'd for them to attack me with a pot of dull paint! Also, thank you most kindly nice lady.
@eyeamlisa It's very cool, such a shame that a lot of other pieces around town got painted over!
September 6th, 2014
@graemestevens "hate" for them not "have" for them - I don't want you grey - need you in sharp contrasts of black and white hahahaha and cut the nice bit you TWAT!
September 6th, 2014
Very nice effect, the fabulous elephant stands in his sharp glory, great shot :)
September 6th, 2014
It took me a bit to find the elephant, but think it's the large dark part of the photo. I have the same issue when I take lensbaby shots -- so hard to get the focus exactly right. I like the overall composition.
September 6th, 2014
Too bad they don't want any in-duh-viduals.
September 6th, 2014
@annied Oh I'm definitely not going to be nice to this feckin' fecker of a feckin' iPad. Feckin fecker.
@hermann Thank you very much indeed :)
@taffy Thanks
@bill_fe If they wanted in-duh-visuals I'd be a shoe in...but I just can't do beige
September 6th, 2014
Kim

September 6th, 2014
September 6th, 2014

September 6th, 2014
@annied in my Pelican Smugglers...
September 6th, 2014
@graemestevens ah ha of course - I didn't think to look there - thank god! must be wine time lol
September 6th, 2014
Looks like you are having fun Mr s. V tired and lacking any wit today....
September 6th, 2014
@annied It's always wine time. We have charming red this evening bought to is by the vineyard at Te Mata Estate. It's rather scrummy :)
@newbank I am I am...and poor you :( Get some sleep, or chocolate (or both) when you can :)
September 6th, 2014
Sam
Ooohhh I do love that blurry elephant. I must get used to these Lensbaby shots - all blur, blur, blur...making my eyes feel woooooozy!
September 6th, 2014
@gigiflower He is kind of cool...and you should seriously consider getting your eyes tested. This whole shot is in crystal clear focus ;)
September 6th, 2014
fun piece of art - really puts a different cast on the elephant in the room
September 6th, 2014
@shannejw It's pretty cool...and Elephant in the Room was the other title I was toying with!
September 6th, 2014
@gigiflower @graemestevens yeh Sam it is as sharp as a tack
September 6th, 2014
This works well
September 6th, 2014
Looks like you had a lot of fun with this Graeme, I love the elephant
September 6th, 2014
Sue
Whoa, terrifying! haha
September 6th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens Blind as a bat!!!
September 6th, 2014
That's too bad that they would paint over the artwork. I really like the elephant and am glad you are having fun with your lensbaby!
September 6th, 2014
Not been tempted by a Lensbaby yet interesting effect.
September 6th, 2014
I'm so glad they left the ellie there - he looks magical! Super lensbaby - I would like to play with one one day!
September 6th, 2014
Lovely lb shot. I really like that elephant!!! Hope they don't paint over it.
September 6th, 2014
@wearing0 Thanks very much :)
@ceilidh Thanks, still learning but I'll get there one day!
@redpants Okie dokey then...thanks very much
@kt8ird I think the elephant gets to stay. I hope so anyway! And thanks very much.
@chippy1402 Thanks very much, taking a bit of getting used to!
@lynnilou Thanks very much - I think her gets to stay but most of the other art is long gone
@jesperani Thanks very much, I hope they leave him be as well!
@annied @gigiflower...sharp as a tack? Yeah, okay...
September 6th, 2014
Well I don't quite know what to make of this one......the poor elephant must be totally confused......a very unusual town to have an elephant in.......wondering what the connection is! Your lensbaby takes some getting used to but loving the way your mind is working here.....elephant & all!
September 6th, 2014
@happypat It takes a lot of getting used too and I certainly won't be using it on every shot! As for the reason for the elephant being there, I think they just happened to find a large enough wall to paint it on! And thanks very much as well :)
September 6th, 2014
@graemestevens your picture is sharp as a tack you Twat hahahahaha @gigiflower is apparently blind as a bat lol
September 7th, 2014
Like this a lot!
September 7th, 2014
@overalvandaan Thank you very much :))
@annied @gigiflower she's probably had too much booze to see straight...
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens I find I see more clearly after booze hahahaha
September 7th, 2014
@annied You and me both. It's as necessary in my life as coffee.
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens agreed indeed hahaha
September 7th, 2014
@annied Super!
September 7th, 2014
Typical council!! Love that elephant.
September 7th, 2014
@golftragic Absolutely, and thanks very much :)
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens Are you sure s/he doesn't belong in the room??
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied I wish it was the booze ;)
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied Oh. So you have excuse then? ;)
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens No excuses except old age. Can't see without the glasses. I find glasses to be very sexy though. I do remember telling my Mum at a very young age that I would marry a man with glasses. And I was right!! She was just in shock that I said the word "marry"...........I never intended on getting married so I waited until I was 35 or something like that. I never remember the anniversary or the year......! Must be the booze that has removed my memory bank.
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower I like glasses as well, particularly when Mrs S looks over the top of them at me. Well helllloooooo. I also like glasses that are full.
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens That's because you have a Headmistress "thing" because you went to one of those strange Catholic schools.......! And no point having an empty glass, in particular a wine glass ;)
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower I lobe it when she dresses like Mother Superior
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens I would "lobe" that too if I knew what "lobe" was ;)
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower you have mentioned the looking over the glasses before Mr S and I have said before that it does have a special effect hahaha
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @graemestevens full glasses are the only ones worth paying attention to - my glass is going nicely with the naan bread I am devouring hahahaha
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower getting into a discussion of lobes with Graeme could be dangerous - I would be careful if was you
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens I do believe you are a teacher Ms Annie? That is why Mr S has a crush on you.....those secret thoughts on you and your glasses perched on your nose ;)

@annied @graemestevens And as for those lobes............I can't wait to hear what Mr S wants to do with his lobes!!! I'm all ear (lobes).....!!!
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower hahahaha oh Sam I am laughing hysterically at your wonderful notions
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@annied HAHAH I was laughing as I typed them!!!
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower Soooo...I officially hate and detest the iPad and it's bizarre auto-correct preferences. This morning I was typing a comment on Facebook and it tried to correct Satan to Stan. Personally I don't think Stan is a very threatening name...Stanley, Prince of Darkness...just doesn't work. I also have to point out that unless Ms. Annie is a Mother Superior she should stay well clear of me and my slacks, trousers, tweeds, breeches...what ever you wish to call them.
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied and skivvy's!!!!!!!!
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied Skivvies goes without saying, as do action sandals.
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied It's all about the Velcro........
September 7th, 2014
@annied @gigiflower I find that Velcro certainly works very well on my Anatomically Correct Latex Body Suit.
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied Do you have to use baby powder to put it on?
September 7th, 2014
@graemestevens how have I all of a sudden gotten anywhere near your slacks? what has @gigiflower gone and done? and I hope your body suit is now in the cupboard and not the drawers and as for Mother Superior - only if wielding a very long ruler hahahahaha
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied No talcum powder is required - all of my skivvies are a Lycra mix, so smooth enough to allow my to just slip on in to the bodysuit. It looks stunning with my sandals. Dead sexy.
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied And showing off your "one pack"
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower Of course. It even glistens in the moonlight.
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @graemestevens dead sexy - I am picturing it now
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens I blacked out at that thought......!
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower @graemestevens hahahahahahaha weakness - told you - inside my head you need to worry LOL
September 7th, 2014
@gigiflower Mr S is tucked up under his crochet blankie by now Miss Sam :)
September 7th, 2014
Sam
@annied Yep, he is snoring his head off!
September 7th, 2014
You've got a lensbaby - fantastic. How are you finding it? Love this, suitably surreal
September 7th, 2014
@rachelwithey Interesting so far, taking a bit of getting used to but practice makes perfect and all that - liking it so far!
@annied @gigiflower I was actually struggling to get I to that suit...I seem to have put on weight...
September 7th, 2014
Very intriguing play, I´m really intrigued to see what the lensbaby will be doing to your work, I think your and lensbaby will be a very interesting combination.That elephant is awesome!
September 7th, 2014
@susale Thanks very much - I won't be using it for every shot and its going to take some getting used to, but it will be interesting!
September 7th, 2014
I always love street art. The lensbaby is fun, I always love the effect.
September 8th, 2014
@jess1204 So do, but our council insists on painting over it! And thank you :)
