Puke Ariki Landing by graemestevens

Puke Ariki Landing

Yes, this is another attempt at "straight" photography. I'm not entirely sure what that means but this is Puke Ariki Landing in New Plymouth. Puke Ariki is also our Information Centre and Museum and is joined to the library by a glass covered walkway.
Taken again with the Zenitar 50mm Fish Eye/Wide Angle lens...and despite not being creepy or gloomy, best on black. Go figure.
I wonder what the words mean! Tourists wouldn't know! Its looks as if a lot of money has been poured into this building!

the sky is wonderfully dramatic... the name of that building would likely be rather risky here ;p

Love the sky! Great architecture on the building, Graeme!

hey straight man - fantastic sky
May 4th, 2015
Joining the admirers of that sky. You're outside! :) See... not so bad!

@maggiemae I believe it translates as "Hill of Chiefs"..and yet the mayors office is at the other end of town. Go Figure.
@northy Yes, it's definitely not pronounced "puke"...more of "pooki"
@susanalena Thank you very much...I was outside!!!
@annied That's me, and thanks, I arranged special
@rosiekerr It was terrifying!!!!!!

@graemestevens your power always leaves me in awe

@annied As it should, as it should

Joining in with the others that have said great sky!

@ukandie1 Thanks very much - I've decided to try my hand at "normal" photography...not sure how long it will last!

Fabulous skyscape :)

@hermann Thank you kindly :)

Great shot. The sky looks awesome.

We're seeing a whole new side to you. Not sure what to make of it, but these are quite lovely compositions.
May 4th, 2015
@karlow75 Thanks - I need to get some practice in with this "normal" photography lark.
@taffy Thank you - I'm not sure what to make it of it either. I'm also not sure how long it will last.

Really nice shot with those dramatic clouds. Are you ok? Not your usual kind of shots.
May 4th, 2015
Just one question - why the need to do "normal"?????
May 4th, 2015
@888rachel I know, I know...I went outside!!! Terrifying!
@alinz Less of a need, more of a loss of inspiration at the moment. And a loss of time for elaborate set ups at the moment!

What is this!? I leave for a few days... and come back to find this "straight photography" stuff all over my home feed. ;)
But actually, I 100% understand the lack of time. I find I'm mostly missing a lack of roommates... they don't much appreciate my elaborate photo shoot set ups taking over the whole room. Also probably don't like hearing the shutter click one hundred times in the middle of the night when I'm still up and they're trying to sleep... :-D

@gigiflower huh?
@ludgate I have no time. I fear today will bring more of the same :(

Good to see New Plymouth again Graeme ....we stayed in a motel in the north part of the town a few years ago. I like your straight photo!
May 4th, 2015
@happypat I'm please some one found all this "straightness" useful ;)
May 4th, 2015
Interesting looking building. I like the sky!
May 4th, 2015
@kwind Thanks very much...not sure about this "normal" lark though
May 4th, 2015
Cool building....interesting fence....frankly, I would have just cropped to the building itself and gotten rid of all the extraneous things on the right, but I can see why you would want to keep them to show the fisheye effect....cool stairs, dramatic sky....it's good to get outside once in a while....I get claustrophobic inside!
May 5th, 2015
@panthora Thanks for that - appreciated :) Personally I quite like the outside world but please keep it to yourself...
May 5th, 2015
holy crap, this didn't make me puke. nice, angry sky.
May 7th, 2015
@bill_fe Thanks - we've had days and days of angry skies now and nothing ever comes of it...waiting patiently for the storm
