Since our space program has ended and we are dependent upon other countries to get us to the space station this may be the only way we will ever see the moon again. I am doing my part! ;~}
@marilyn Read your Exif info and it will tell you! I feel like a cheat because I always"fall back" on the moon when I can't find anything else to shoot!
@grammyn Good advice! Duh... :) It is not cheating to take great photos, no matter the subject. Do you think Georgia O'Keeffe was cheating when she kept taking pictures of flowers?
Wow!! Stunning. This is the most beautiful moon picture I have seen . How did you do this? Do you use a telescope to take the picture?. Gorgeous. Super fav.. You rock, truly inspirational..
How on earth did you ever get this stunning moon shot with a p&s. Is your camera a p&s, or am I misunderstanding something here?!! I cannot (repeat CANNOT!) get a decent photo of the moon. This is awesome. You rock, girlfriend. FAV.
This is the best Moon photo that I have ever seen, Katy. I am with Karenann and Mag on this one, you rock and this is awesome. How did you do this? FAV

Right now I am sitting at my computer chuckling because I had nothing else for my album tonight and decided to shoot the moon I can't believe the reaction. I am so thrilled that you are all so impressed but it is really nothing. I am so afraid this is going to come off sounding wrong. I have to confess I shot this in auto because I couldn't get the manual to do what I wanted. I pointed at the moon,zoomed in ,and pushed the button. That is it folks! I will say that my P&S is a good one (I am so disturbed to think it is only a P&S,KarenAnn!) and has a FANTASTIC zoom. That was a requirement for me when my husband bought it for me! Other than that I sat on the front porch,propped the camera on the railing and pushed the button! Thank you so very much each one of you fro your enthusiasm AND the FAVs! YOU are the ones that rock!
Well .. you do rock that camera, girl! It's one of those special little "magic" ones and probably what I SHOULD be using instead of fighting daily with this one of mine. Still .. one MUST give credit to the photographer. Not everyone can do what you're doing, Katy. That's a fact. Even if you own a magic camera. :)
@karenann That is so nice of you KarenAnn. I am still amazed at the response to this because I didn't think it was that special at all! I really appreciate your generous praise!
@grammyn I did not read what you wrote till now. I love this photo of the moon that you took. I basically have a point and shoot as my lens does not detach from my camera. It looks like a fancy camera but is not. It is all about the person taking the photo. At what time of the evening did you take this photo, totally after sundown? I have gotten white things in the sky and that is it, nothing like your detail.
@darsphotos This shot was taken at 7:50PM If you look at the details section directly under the thumbnails it will tell you what day, time and camera took the shot! I have a really good zoom on my camera which is why I can get such great detail!
Superb moon shot, Katy. I've been browing moon shots by Tag to try to compare EXIF info and figure out what the heck I've been doing wrong. I think it's comically great that you shot this in auto with a P&S and got such a fantastic, stand-out shot, when so many of us are trying to fidget around with manual settings to get that one good shot. BTW, I'm going to try to use your camera's auto settings on my camera tonight to see what I can get! We have had such cloud cover here, though....
This is a great moon shot Katy!! You need to take more. I think what you can do is if you have a photo processing program, add some sharpening, or if you don't, once you've uploaded go to "edit in Picmonkey" and sharpen the photo there. I do sharpen mine. They look pretty good sooc, but sometimes that extra crispness really makes the picture better.
