Elk in Jewell Meadows by granagringa

Elk in Jewell Meadows

This was taken a month ago but today converted to b&w and I played a bit with contrast and dehaze and gradient filter in PS.
But this would have been another day to this shot as the weather was pretty much the same, with snow in the mountains.
Jewell Meadows is a wildlife sanctuary in the Coastal Range of mountains of Western Oregon and there are herds of elk that are fed from December through March. Hay bales are thrown from a tractor. Here the elk were waiting and it was amazing how incredible still they were for long periods of time with just an occasional wiggle of ears or tails.
Fav, has a nice painterly quality

I really like the sectors in this photo. The plane where the elk are, the larger dark tree and distant smaller grey trees. Nice photo!
