Lace making

This lady was one of the lace makers in the craft tent at the Westmorland Show. They were all sitting in a row chatting away while people watched them. Some were doing traditional lace making but this lady was using these brightly coloured threads which made the finished article very bright indeed ! I would have asked her more about the process but she was so busy talking I didn't feel I could interrupt!
I'm afraid I have got a bit muddled with the dates of my photos & am posting on dates before the actual photo was taken...not good continuity but I was fed up with holiday pictures !
Interesting shot Pat! Is this what they call tatting? (no, just googled it and tatting is with needles) Hmmm, definitely not your typical doilie she's got going there!

That sounds like a very delicate and detailed job.

This is something I have seen at some of our sewing get togethers. Very time consuming but so intricate. lovely colours too.

Wow - that looks intricate - the bright colours would give a very different finish. Love these old skills. Funny - I have had the same problem with my holiday photos...it's hard catching up!
