Sprucing up the woodburner.

Harry gave the wood burner it's annual spraying with black stove paint this morning. After being on all winter they go a bit grey so look so much nicer when they are all matt black. We will be lighting it soon as the weather gets a little bit colder. During the summer we use an electric flame thing just to give the room a focal point, It is quite warm in there just now as the heat from the Aga reaches this small sitting room we use so we will wait a little while longer yet before lighting it !
Looks lovely, we have a real fire in the living room and I don't think it will be long before my husband wants to light it as he needs very little excuse! In the meantime he too will need to blacken the hearth.

It looks like new. I'm hanging on as long as possible before lighting mine - but it could be any day now!

Great photo, Pat!! Harry did a great job there! Nice color and textures. So you have an Aga!!!! Love those stoves. When we were in England, we would visit a woman who had one. Her kitchen was so toasty warm and cozy, and we loved having a "cuppa" in there. Memories!!!!

OOh - you're so educational!! I'd love a wood-burner in my 'office'. Nigel sits out in his 'shed' working away with electric heaters on but because I'm in the house I try to keep the heating to a minimum. It's the installation costs that are putting him off but I think it would be lovely!!

Job well done by Harry...the stove looks like new. You should be nice and toasty this winter with this and the Aga to keep things warm. :)

@karenann Yes I do love my Aga but it runs on oil so quite a luxury but what the heck !!! I will put a photo of this stove up when it's lit !

@judithg It is a bit expensive to put a wood burner in as you need to line the chimney first so that it draws well . Ours is a Clearveiw & they have an air system that flows over the glass at the front so the glass stays clean. They are a bit dusty but so cosy !! Heating the house is so expensive these days I think we all have to add an extra jumper !!

@happypat No I meant using it. You may very well have a few more cool days / evenings.

Looks like brand new now! Ah just the thought of a wood burning stove conjures up images of relaxing in an easy chair basking in the glow of the heat while reading a book a sipping brandy. Ah yes......

A great woodburner. They are suprisingly effective, though. Ours keeps us warm all winter and is situated in the back of the house, somehow it keeps the front rooms pretty warm too. Have to look into that paint...great idea.

Miss my woodheater when we moved 13 years ago. You just can't beat real flames of a woodfire.
