St John's church, Blackpool, an Anglican church & Grade 2 listed building situated opposite the Opera House. This used to be a pleasant but unnoticeable church in the centre of the shopping area in the town. Recently though they have developed this area as part of the major redevelopment of Blackpool & the whole of the square between the Opera house & this church has been paved over. This has completely transformed this church into an icon in the town.....the stained glass windows are just stunning & at night the whole church just glows! In this Square there is also a very futuristic sort of statue & a lovely fountain in which the kids can run in & out of !
When I took this picture last night it wasn't quite dark enough to show it off at it's best , I had a better one I had taken a few weeks ago but I can't find it !!!
This is lovely Pat! It made me think of something I heard ages ago:
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.
A beautiful shot. This is so different from what I remember from my youth! I used to go to Christ Church, just around the corner - but got off the bus here!
I love what @sarah19 Says about it! It's really dramatic Pat and you've taken a really nice clear pic in the low light - I have quite a lot of shaky ones from our Berlin trip where I was trying for this sort of thing!
Wow - what a stunning land mark Pat. Those windows are magnificent. Great to see them preserving this piece of history and giving it a whole new lease on life.

Blackpool always looks lovely through your camera lens :)
