The scene today in our local garden center!
As soon as I walked in & saw the stands I said to Harry they are getting the Christmas stuff out & moments later out came some cards & the wrapping paper!
Whats more when we came back from our coffee people were flocking round the half price cards!
My first thought was thank goodness no Christmas hassle this year ....we are off to New Zealand!!!
That is really pushing it. I don't even want to think about Christmas at this point. Christmas in New Zealand sounds incredible - a country I have always wanted to see.
Lucky you! I wish I could sleep thru the whole ghastly commercialism that has taken over Christmas. And here one wouldn't dare complain about the shopping centers playing Jingle Bells as early in the year and as loudly as possible lest one be accused of being against Christianity @judithg
@judithg I have much to say about all that but you know what they say about discussing certain topics in 'polite society' and we just touched on two of them...haha!
@meisen325@judithg The weird thing was people were round the stands like bees round a honey pot when we came out! I asked one woman if it wasn't a little early to be buying cards & she said they were cheap...she might be dead by Christamas!!!
@daviefrance@phil_howcroft@fannyb@ellida@jgpittenger Cross my heart this is a photo taken at lunchtime today in our local garden center.
They had just started setting all the cards, wrapping paper etc in the usual place. Wednesday 1st August. We haven't had any summer!! yet!!!
Great capture. Here in the US, cards and wrap usually go on *half-price* sale the week after Christmas, so the merchant does not have to store them for a year.
Isn't it just dreadful, I wanted to say something rude but was forbidden!!!
