The prime reason for going to London for the last two days was to visit this memorial with my sister.
As I have mentioned before my father was in Bomber Command & everyone was very touched when this memorial was finally opened by the Queen at the end of June.
Margaret & I didn't know what to expect as we walked up to it through Green Park. I took some white roses thinking I could perhaps lay them on while I took a photo but as you can see they were dwarfed by the overwhelming displays of love & respect.
There were dozens of little tributes from families who had made a great efforts to bring letters of missing in action, photos, poems, wreathes & all sorts of personal treasures...it was quite moving but not in a sad way.
Just goes to show how important it is for people to have somewhere to go to pay respects. Did you take a photo of the whole thing - I searched the Internet for it a whole ago but didn't find any pictures of the actual memorial.
