Today we are looking through the square window.......

I took my big camera in B&Q & Tesco today intending to take some gritty down to earth people shots but flunked it at the last minute!!!! How do you go round those sort of shops with a bid DSLR round your neck?

I took the book shelf quickly with my P&S but resorted to Lakes again..sorry!

Loved this shop in Ambleside, I bought quite a few Christmas presents for the girls over in NZ.

Three good things:
1. Proper chips & left over mince for tea, not too much trouble but we love it!
2.I cleaned all the tiles round the Aga this morning so it looks all sparkling.
3.I bought two cheap but really nice flannel shirts from Matalan, £12 each!!
Think I'd like to visit that shop too!

Brilliant ! It looks like the first Christmas shot. Tescos don't like cameras but I did manage a crafty shot in B&Q once.

Ha ha I think a lot of those 'candid' shots are taken with an iphone!! Richard tyson who takes them everyday says its easy in the city as everyone assumes he's a tourist!!and a lot of tourists wear cameras , I've done it in Rye as there are loads of people taking shots but I doubt i could summon up the courage in B&Q!!! What a delightful window, so inviting to go in!!!

I see "Uno de 50" in that window! It's a Spanish company that makes fun and funky jewelry that I like! I bought a few pieces in Barcelona and one in Paris last year. Not sold around here. This really made me smile.

Fav for me - my sort of shot!! I see why I shouldn't go in Tesco now - I'm surprised they didn't turf you out actually - you could have been a Waitrose spy!

Such a lovely place & composition!:)

I'd love to go to that shops.
I flunk at candids. I always think folks are going to get upset.....

Great contrasts

@judithg Thank you for the fave Judith, gorgeous shop inside & much larger than it looks.

@meisen325 I did wonder what that 50 meant so interesting that you recognised it Monica. They had all sorts of goodies in there!

@tsingtao Thank you very much for the fave & it's a long time since I had lines LOL ! Such lovely slate houses in the Lakes as you no doubt will know!

this is SO cool . I'm in need of some flannel shirts ....just shopping online , but not having much luck !

@jquinn These are checky ones & rather nice, my staple everyday wear!

I have a favourite flannel checked shirt - it's so old the stitching has frayed away! Love the stone work round the window! Small is better to show goods!

@maggiemae Check shirts seem to be in fashion this year over here so plenty to chose from!!! I am a cold person so always like a warmer feel next to me most of the year!!!

Pat, what I find is easier sometimes, is to line up your shot, pretend you're taking lots, and wait for someone to walk into it :) Hope you know what I mean. And DO NOT make eye contact :) Anyway, that's what works for me ;)

@kwiksilver I was intending to do that Gillian but I haven't got used to the size of this new camera round my neck yet & still feel very conspicuous! The first time \I felt at ease was in the Lake District last Tuesday where everyone had a camera round their neck!

I was going to say there are windows like these in Ambleside...ha! Great shot - I'm with you, haven't quite worked up the courage to snap away in the supermarket even though I've taken my camera there a few times!

I LOVE this, Pat ... it's "eye candy" for me. It has a lovely pov and great textures. I don't even bother to try candid captures with my large camera anymore ... especially in stores. Too many frowns of disapproval! lol I'll stick to what I can catch outdoors.

I am so NOT a shopper...but this window appeals to me! I have tried that "wait for someone to walk into it" and they think they are getting the way of my shot. Sigh.
October 26th, 2012
cute shot...I am terrible at candid 'people' shots! so I would have done as you and shot something I could take time to focus and not get embarrassed
October 26th, 2012
I hear you loud and clear. To carry the big camera into a place like that would take some guts, and I don't think I could get myself to do it either. .

Very interesting!

Love this charming window shot! Would love to check out that quaint looking shop. You're doing well with your Christmas shopping, Pat! Sounds like you're going to have to check a bit of extra luggage to get everything over to New Zealand. :)

almost abstract again pat....lovely detail
