Scorton. by happypat

Scorton.

One of my friends lives in the delightful village of Scorton near the Trough of Bowland. I took this shot of The Priory when I took her home from our weekend away, it is a very popular eating place in the summer months.

I have been to the doctors this morning & results much better than I expected. Not much general arthritis but some calcification of my knee joint.
He recommends an injection, does any one have any experience of this?
Plus he says rowing, swimming & cycling good exercise....I think I might give the rowing a miss!!!!!!
My knees are not at their best today.....I have been abusing them all week end by dancing until the wee small hours!!!

Three good things:
1. A fab w/e with friends!
2. Two lovely grandchildren in NZ who are 20 today!!! Happy Birthday William & Alex.
3. Kendal Mint Cake.
This looks an ideal place to hang out. You could always go for the next Olympic rowing team - I hear you can make it to the top in a very short time!!!

Great looking spot. As for the exercise, Peg is the family swimmer, while I prefer cycling. Neither of us have ever had adverse effects on our knees from those two activities.

I would stay away from rowing as knees do take a beating and it might lead to other problems. The injections are good, they do help.

Aha - you must be channeling @judithg with the bicycle! Maybe that's your hint!

Lovely village shot. I have a wii sport and exercise with the tennis. Rowing and cylcling seem very hard.

Lovely shot pat, perhaps you should have mentioned the abuse till the wee smalll hours to the quack! The injection sometimes hurts extra for a couple of days and then works wonders.

@bpaquette Oh yes!! Well if the doctor says it's good for your knees...?! Obviously better than dancing at any rate.

@busylady @bpaquette I think i will stick to the cycling!!!!

@ruthmouch @judithg Ah but the dancing was good & very uplifting!! I did come clean to the doc & I did not get into trouble !!!!! Not sure about my calanetics, it seems to have only come on since I started that, will ask when I go for the injections on the 28th. Hope it doesn't hurt!!!!!

Having my shoulder injected didn't hurt at all (and I know it didn't work either but that was a different problem!)

So sorry to hear you are having problems with your knees Pat my new ones are behaving quite well, but I don't think this cold weather helps . btw a very attractive picture.

Such a wonderful looking spot.

Lovely spot and I am sure @judithg is envious that she did not get to shoot this bike. Sorry to hear about your knees. Hope the injections are helpful.

Swimming is the best exercise all round. I have a tricky knee and have to look after it when cycling and rowing (not that I row anywhere!) I had an steroid injection in a bad shoulder once and it was fantastic. Only needed to have two! Im now googling Trough of Bowland!

This is such a charming sight, Pat. Really lovely! I am certain that you had a wonderful girls' weekend away. There's nothing like girl trips!
I just hate that you are suffering so with your knees. I know how that can suck the joy out of life at times. I would definitely try the cortisone (I'm assuming) injections. I've had two cortisone injections in different joints and nearly wept with relief from the pain. Unfortunately, both times the effects only lasted 24 hours given the nature of my illness. :( But, normally one should expect to have 6 to 8 weeks of relief from an injection. I would certainly give it serious consideration if I were you.

I just saw in a comment that you are scheduled for injections on 2/28. I think you'll be happy that you decided to give them a try, Pat.
And a very happy 20th birthday to your grand-twins!!

Prior to my last knee surgery Pat, I had a series of injections, and the injections worked very well for me, giving me a few years of relief till I had to have surgery. I attached a site for you to see and show your doctoir. It was called Synvisc. http://synviscone.com/
