The view from no. 41 bus...Lancaster. by happypat

The view from no. 41 bus...Lancaster.

Idea courtesy of @phil-howcroft who used to regularly show us views from the no. 58 bus.
This is Common Garden Street in the city of Lancaster.
You can see the town hall clock & the spire of the RC Cathedral.
My daughter Cathy worked at the Scholl Podiatry shop which is on this street for one afternoon a week before she went full time.
A lovely city I think, built on a hill with a castle, port & good University.
Both grandchildren go to school here & know Lancaster very well.

This photo was taken on Friday on my big trip to Morecambe...a filler I'm afraid as I have run out of ideas & had no time today after re hanging curtains etc!

Three good things:
1.We have missed most of the snow again!!
2.My B&B has booked in for another 2 weeks...no breakfast & he makes his own bed!!!!!
3. The decorators bill was very reasonable!
I like shots like this so much to see what it is like around each of us.
And lucky you to have a guy that doesn't want the breakfast and cleans up after himself.

I wish I could afford to go on the bus and take great photos like this.

Weirdly, although I've been to the Uni many times I can't remember if I've ever been to Lancaster the city. It does look lovely. I like the idea of a bus series. Might have to try that.

He sounds like an easy to please customer! Nice street scene.

What a fun idea for a series. I am running out of inspiration these days, and even though I am on a major bus route, I wouldn't want to show a camera there...

March 12th, 2013
@barrowlane He he you will have to wait for the bus pass Rob then you can go anywhere free like the rest of us!!! not an exercise I will be doing in the near future although I enjoyed it immensely!
March 12th, 2013
@fueast The Uni is massive now Alison but near junction 33 M6 so probably no need for you to go into town.

@fannyb Ooh we could have met up if it had been recently!!! Yes loving my guest, he is working in the area & a lovely young man. I am not surprised they paid in full... I can tell it would be a lovely stay with you... I can feel the warmth from here!!!

Love seeing bits of Lancaster - my step sister and her husband live here. We visited once but didnt see much of it. Great to have the bedroom finished!
March 12th, 2013
@mgozzard Thanks Margaret for your comment. @busylady thanks Judith, I liked the half light. @bpaquette I sat on the front row & no one took any notice Barbara!!!

I used to love our trips to Lancaster. The very excellent deputy head from Adam's school started as the new head of Lancaster Grammar in September which took me back to a boyfriend of my sister's who boarded there in the 80's and spent his holidays with us because his mother and stepfather had moved to Africa and effectively abandoned him. Love the feel of the shot - winter's evening ready for home...,

@maggiemae Really maggiemae how amazing ....something to do with your mums travels ...did she meet a Lancastrian? Yes carpets tomorrow!!!!
March 12th, 2013
@phil_howcroft Yes it was a good vantage point Phil but our granddaughter said all the oldies sit at the front!!! Didn't know how to take that !!!
We think a bus view series would be good...great idea of yours Phil! Not sure when next bus ride will be though seeing as it's the first time I have used it ever in almost five years!!
March 12th, 2013
@happypat the front seats top deck are quite popular in Nottingham , even among the youngsters ...our stop is quite an early on from the 58 terminus, so we can usually bags that front seat ...make use of it...Blackpool prom might be a good photo opportunity.....do they still have double decker trams too ?
March 12th, 2013
@phil_howcroft Good thinking Phil..I think they only have single decker trams now...they are all new but will def do a tram one, could go all the way to Fleetwood!

Great pov. When I retire I am going everywhere by bus.
March 16th, 2013
Great atmosphere Pat. It's comforting to know that I am not the only one who is lacking in the inspiration dept at the moment. I blame the weather, but then again, I blame everything on the weather.
