Today was my walk day with my walking group & we did five miles round the Abbeystead estate where the Duke of Lancaster has his country house.
Beautiful stone houses & thousands of acres of field & moorland him being almost the richest man in the UK.
He is well liked & considered a good landlord generally.
The Queen & family are often come to stay here in the holidays.
Abbeystead country fair was on in the village hall & I have some photos of sheep in the judging field but the weather was so wet & got condensation in my camera so they are not good!
I kept my camera under my waterproof jacket when it started to rain & I looked rather like I was expecting a happy event before they looked at my age!!!!!
Three good things:
1. A wonderful walk, three quarters of it in dry weather.
2. Carrot cake & Lemon drizzle cake to eat in the village hall.
3. Harry didn't want to dig potatoes in the pouring rain so I got some chips at the chippy to go with our steak.
Love your shot with the bright washing on the line contrasted with the lovely colours of thestone. Ray made lemon drizzle cake yesterday to take to the tennis match last night.
Interesting subject could be a theme subject idea "washing line Monday" although I don't think many people have a specific wash day any more. Come to that don't expect many people bother to hang it out now either. Colours look fine to me. Nice shot.
@judithg Dark & very rainy here ...we are worried as we have a leaky roof next door & we can't get the builder to come & fix it...too busy & he doesn't answer the phone!! Will have to get someone else if he doesn't come next week!! Not fair on the tenants!!
what a lovely walk despite the bit of rain. interesting commentary as well and nice to know the richest man in the UK is well-liked. i love the line of reds and pinks all strung up on the line juxtaposed with the texture of the stones.
@peggysirk@bpaquette@moreyoulessme Thank you all for your lovely comments I loved the line of tiny leggings, vests, socks etc & all in pleasing colour pallete.
You are so good, Pat, replying back to your followers - its like having a conversation with you! Love the stone fences here and the history! I wonder how that Lancastrian Duke got to be so rich! Most of them have to open their houses to help with finances!
@maggiemae Not him maggie he owns all of Westminster in London plus loads of other places & also has a large house farms in Cheshire. Not all easy for him though as he has suffered from bad depression so life has it's ups & downs for all of us!
I have had plenty of time tonight to answer comments which i must say I do love to do but not always the time!! Thank you for that anyway.
@phil_howcroft I know Phil but I do love a good washing line & like my clothes to be colour co ordinated on the line like these ....pathetic aren't I ?
Hey, Pat - I've been after my husband to get my clothes line up all summer. Think I will email this link to him. He may get the hint!
Wonderful shot. Love that old stone wall, but I would not want to be the person lifting those stones up to the top layer!
@happypat Pat, i think you've been to the same school of 'hanging washing' as jane :) ...jane is coordinated and when i peg the washing out i have to follow suit !
A good real time shot here Pat, life in the real, clothing on the line. Since we have built our patio, we lost our outdoor clothing line. Kind of miss it
Beautiful capture and so nicely composed. I guess I told you already that I love this type of stone fences. Greatly enhanced with the pink clothing hanging.
What a fabulous capture.
When (if) I get back to England, I am definitely looking you up. You seem to know all the good spots to shoot.
Thanks so much for sharing.
Love the clothes line and all the pink!!
@zzzimmerman Thank you Lenny for your lovely comments, have just checked you out & yes it is 4.15am in the morning here but awake with sciatica .......I will follow you ,you sound my sort of lady!!
I don't think you have ( and I don't like overprocessing at all) and it's just right in my opinion.
