Man at work. by happypat

Man at work.

Harry decided to creosote the hen cabin today, he has every other day of the week to do a dirty job like that but no, today was the day!!!
Managed to spill the whole tin over all his clothes so the house wreaks of the smell, which I rather like as it happens!
Not sure whether the hens were impressed, they kept well away.

Three good things:
1. 9lbs of blackberries picked over the last 3 days....I am nettled & scratched & bitten & my hands look a mess but am well satisfied with myself!
2. A good chat with my friend in church this morning.
3. Very light meals today as we ate lots last night & are out for meals three more times this week!
Very impressive hen house! Lucky hens! I quite like the smell of creosote too!

Well I hope you haven't ruined your lovely nails!! 9lbs is loads. And Harry has to grab these fine days for his winter jobs! PS Fab composition in this shot.

A fine looking hen house will benefit from the coat of creosote Nothing better I find it the best thing for keeping the mites and lice at bay. That said creosote is not he same as it used to be. Its looks a nice sunny day.

Nice shot !! I also quite like the clean smell of creosote !! poor hens I don't think they will appreciate it tonight !
September 22nd, 2013
But bet there are no red mites!!! I spilt half a pot of denim blue paint over my sons bedroom during the big tidy up!!! Just covered with a rug and moved on!

A great shot with the very smart hen house against all those fabulous green fields. 9lbs! That's a lot of blackberry picking. Well done you.

Those hens are certainly free range! Their eggs must taste divine! Lucky to have a house like this!

@maggiemae Am watching the Americas Cup Maggie but second race & all is doom & gloom so I have left it for a bit!!

Great hen house, I love the smell of creosote. I've been known to sniff a fence before, lol!
September 22nd, 2013
@happypat I'm not going to jump off the verandah just yet, Pat! In fact, I might just go outside for the next race tomorrow!
September 22nd, 2013
@maggiemae Jo from NZ has just rung & she says because it's on in the earlyish morning she can't get anything done....tomorrow will surely be the day!!!
September 22nd, 2013
impressive blackberrying pat.....you should convert to cuprinol or wilko wood preserve ...less smelly :)
September 22nd, 2013
@phil_howcroft Harry will have no truck with soft stuff like that Phil..has to be the original smelly stuff!!
September 22nd, 2013
@happypat ha ha pat...creosote does smell nice though , but after an hour of painting it can get a bit much

I just noticed a neighbor had put that silver fibered paint at the base of his chimney and must have knocked over the rest of the can onto his roof shingles. Oh dear - can't hide that one easily!!

Such a wonderful shot of your Harry hard at work! A marvelous composition with field, coop, and disinterested hen. Wow ~ 9 lbs. of blackberries! You've been working hard as well, Pat!
September 23rd, 2013
This is a great shot Pat and I had a real laugh at the idea of him spilling the creosote

Lovely hen house! Good for Harry - at least he didn't put it off for a rainy day! ;)
September 23rd, 2013
Love the smell of creosote. Hope you've got the proper stuff and not that substitute that they sell these days.
September 23rd, 2013
@jantan No definitely the proper stuff Jan!

Hope he was wearing a mask, that stuff he is putting on isn't good for you, we can't buy it around here anymore they have taken it off the market.
September 24th, 2013
@sailingmusic Quite difficult to get hold of the proper stuff her Myrna & no he isn't wearing a mask!! Took the precaution of putting sun factor on his face as it stings specially when the dun is shining ...has been using it for years so quite blase about it!
September 24th, 2013
@jo13 Same as me then & they are invaluable for walking & working outside aren't they?
September 24th, 2013
@bpaquette @swilde His jeans are still on the line after having been washed twice but still smell!

Neat shot of a man at work! And, I love the chicken running loose around him. She doesn't seem impressed at all!
You are quite high over him with this shot. Nice PoV.
