This is Great Eccleston, I live about a mile away from here & the place I come to the most.
You can just see Harry here on the right hiding behind the wall...I wanted to get him in shot but he was too crafty & stayed out of sight.
On the right you can just see the blind of the butchers & the next shop keeping on the right is the paper & off licence where Harry gets our paper from each morning.
Next to the newsagents is the fish & chip shop &
then the former bank which is now the community centre...all sorts go on in there!
Next there is a ladies clothes shop, then the Black Bull pub.
On the next corner there is the bakers & then the Post Office.
Crossing over & coming back there is an estate agent, then the Cobblestone cafe, the dentist is next & then a mans clothes shop. A newly opened beauty shop followed by the White Bull & then the Italian restaurant.
Round the corner is a couple of hairdressers, a small supermarket & a posh Fish restaurant.
We also have a medical Centre a chemist, a little veg shop & an undertaker plus on the way out is Alfs shop an ironmongers which sells everything else!
All within a radius of about half a mile
As you can see it 's a great place to live.
Sorry I have been rather lax yesterday with comments, while Lesley is here we are rather living it up!!!
Three good things:
1. I have done the accounts & taken them to the accountants in Blackburn. We drove through Ribchester but never managed to stop to take a decent photo!!
2. The loveliness of all the trees on this sunny day.
3. The friendly fish & chip cafe which pushed two tables together for our rather large noisy party in the village last night...plus a nice bottle of wine.
Looks lovely! Really nice wide streets, which rather surprise me.
And, an immaculate town with well maintained shops and houses.
i will be doing a similar shot of Alexandria since my get pushed challenge is to do a shot of my local town.
Wow lucky you, we have a post box and a phone box and that's it!!! Everything you need for a bit of pampering and good grub. Thank you for the guided tour x
@maggiemae Funnily enough there is Maggiemae, it's called Little Eccleston & it's on the other side of the main road. No shops & it's just houses along the road leading to the Cartford Inn & toll bridge which I have mentioned before.
It sounds quite a comprehensive village with all those amenities. Great description. Perhaps it will inspire others to do the same sort of thing. I want to set my camera up in my car and use an auto release to take a photo, say, every minute as I travel to work and then make a little video timed release type thing. Just need to work out how to do it.
it's a lovely little shot Pat...I think Harry has been to the "Jane's school of avoiding getting into a 365 shot"...........wine and fish and chips too :)
