Garstang was full of fun today as people raised money for the annual charity that is Children in Need.
Self explanatory the UK raises vast amounts of money today either through fund raising exploits, dressing up or just donating online. The BBC hosts a complete evening entertainment with various celebrities making fools of themselves all for this good cause.
This was outside Booths supermarket in Garstang & all the staff inside were dressed as elves.
Three good things:
1. We have managed to get the guy to move the caravan which has been blighting our view for the last month!!
2. My friend had bought me a little gift when I called on her today.
3. Watching Oprah Winfrey on Loose Women today...she was so interesting.
Is that guy in the stocks? I went to a fair the other day and they had a young boy in the stocks and you threw wet sponges at him! Yeow! He had agreed of course! I wish our neighbour would shift his caravan but there is nowhere else to put it!
@maggiemae Yes they were throwing wet sponges at this guy too......have been in a strop this morning as our tenants next door asked Harry if they could put a motor home in their drive & he said yes with out checking what I thought as well!!! They are very good neighbours but not too keen on having that in the drive next door particularly as they will have to open the gates onto our drive to get out!!! Told Harry he must get the other eye saw shifted before any others came....DIL said we could hold gypsy weddings at this rate!!
Hahaa - did you ask that chicken for some eggs? Great news on the caravan. We've got tickets to see Oprah in a The Butler on Sunday. I'm loving our Sunday cinema outings (I've joined us all up as members - you get free tickets & then £2 off plus discount on their food and various restaurants so it more than pays for itself) - Adam went through an anti-cinema phase but he likes the Arts Picturehouse with the oldies & it's nice to all go out together. It has the advantage for him that he doesn't have to talk to us.
@judithg We are going to try for Philomena again next Wednesday & The Butler is next on the list. Oprah was really rather inspiring today!! She said when someone asked her how, even though she was so famous, that she kept from thinking she was important she replied...''I keep my feet on the ground but I have nicer shoes!''
What great fun for a great cause. We had a young boy come into school today for the first time. He is an unaccompanied child - meaning he has no one. He is probably 11 years old and was from down south. No family, no friends. Our hearts were breaking for him. I saw him again at lunchtime and asked how his day was going, he smiled and said "okay". Please say a prayer for him - I don't even know his name, but he can sure use some love.
@bpaquette How very sad Barbara...no child should have to be alone like that....no family & no one to love him as family do, poor child.
I do hope he settles in your school....I'm sure you will all look out for him but your heart goes out to him....will definitely pray for him.
funtimes in Garstang Pat.....you could have gone in close with your camera too, like the man in picture two :) ...then again you don't want your new 'pen' getting wet :)
I do hope he settles in your school....I'm sure you will all look out for him but your heart goes out to him....will definitely pray for him.
